Our annual fundraising ride, the BikeHouston Moonlight Bicycle Ramble, is coming up. On Saturday October 25th at midnight we start our famous ride from the George R. Brown Convention Center. Don’t miss out on experiencing Houston like never before.
One of our most successful projects is the bike valet that BikeHouston provides at several events in the city of Houston. Volunteering as a bike valet is a great way to meet fellow cyclists and to help BikeHouston grow. Check out our volunteer page at www.bikehouston.org to sign up for opportunities to help BIkeHouston along on its journey. We can always use more volunteers, so bring your family and friends too.
Houston Endowment Grant
In September BikeHouston received a generous grant from Houston Endowment. The grant is a recognition for our work, the importance of our mission and a strong support for our cause to make Houston a more bike-friendly city. Read more about the Houston Endowment grant in this article on our website. In the coming weeks we hope to hire additional staff and to find our own office space. Check out our Facebook page for updates on both – and much more.
Bicycle Master Plan
BikeHouston is also involved in the development of a new Bicycle Master Plan for the City of Houston. Houston Endowment entrusted us with an additional grant of one hundred thousand dollar to give cyclists a voice in this important planning process that will shape the future of cycling in Houston. We need your support, we need your ideas, and we need you. BikeHouston strives to unite all Houston cyclists to make this a great city to live, to work and to ride you bicycle.
We are making very good progress in key areas, but unless we can convince cyclists to join as members we will struggle to get the city to make real changes. Our memberships are affordable so I am sure you will find a level comfortable for you. Join us today.
