A Word From Our Director………. John Long

October rolls in. Pumpkins. Bicycle wheels. Harvest moon. Houston’s October calendar is full of bike rides and first in our eyes is the 45th annual Moonlight Ramble on Saturday, October 14th. Bigger, better, and more fun than ever. Pre-party at Discovery Green begins at 8:00 pmThe ride begins from Discovery Green at 9:00 pm. Course closes at 11:00 pm so you can get to the after party on the Green. Costume contest? Check. Bike Lights contest? Check. Sign up now on the BikeHouston web site.

Some of our partners also host bike rides during October. First up is the Park to Port ride on October 7th. The 20-mile ride begins and ends at the Bill Coates Bridge on the Brays Bayou side of Hermann Park and turns around at Brady’s Landing near the Port of Houston.

Up for a two-day, 170-mile ride that circles Galveston Bay? Sign up for the October 21-22 ride sponsored by Galveston Bay Foundation.

BTW, thanks to our friends at Bike Barn for donating the proceeds from the summer’s Memorial Park Crit Races to BikeHouston. $5000. A big deal.

And yes, Houston’s still recovering from Hurricane Harvey. Bravo to our friends at Houston Bike Share (B-Cycle). They’ve organized a bike give-away program, Keep Houston Rolling, to help out people who’ve lost their transportation because of the storm. Got a bike to donate? Want to help?
