We Need Volunteers for the Get Around H-Town Program

BikeHouston has some urgent needs to help us kick off our Get Around H-Town program (GAH). This program helps middle-school kids ride with skill and confidence by teaching them about safety and bicycle maintenance. As we all know, the more people on bikes, the better it is for everyone.

Here are some of our current needs:

  • Volunteer teachers for the program. BikeHouston will provide training to the teachers.
  • A safe storage site for a 7’ X 12’ trailer. The trailer will hold the program bicycles.
  • Individuals with carpentry skills to help retrofit the storage trailer to house bicycles.
  • Individuals who can help transport the trailer and bikes to after-school sites. This will happen about every six weeks.
  • Individuals with intermediate to advanced bike repair skills to help with weekly maintenance.

Get Around H-Town is a key component of our community education efforts. If you would like to contribute time or resources, please contact our Education Director, Inge Ford, at education@bikehouston.org for more information. Thanks for your support.
