The BikeHouston Moonlight Ramble is Houston’s oldest charity bike ride. It draws more than 2,000 cyclists, many of whom join us each year and add the latest commemorative Ramble T-shirt to their collection. This fun night-time bike ride is suitable for most ages and abilities.
Join us before the ride for music, food and drinks, and last-minute bike tune-ups. Show us your wildest bike decorations and costumes! After the ride, the party continues with music, beer from Saint Arnold, snacks and prizes for best illuminated bike, best costume and more.
Pre-ride festival: 8 p.m.
Joiin us for music, food, and drinks at the pre-ride festival at Discovery Green! Visit our sponsor booths, give your bike a tune-up with our bike shop sponsors, or buy vintage Moonlight Ramble shirts, jerseys and other once-a-year goodies. BikeHouston volunteers will also be in the crowd looking for the best illuminated bike, best costume and more to win prizes after the ride.
The festival is located on Avenida de las Americas and Discovery Green.
Ride: 9 p.m.
Ride through historic Houston neighborhoods and see the city like never before! This 10-mile course will include rest stops with music and snacks, and HPD officers will be stationed at intersections for traffic control. BikeHouston volunteers will be posted throughout the route to guide you along your way.
The ride will leave at 9 p.m. and begin and end along Avenida de las Americas. Ambitious cyclists may ride the loop twice, but the course closes at 11 p.m. All riders must wear helmets and have front and rear lights on their bikes.
Post-ride party: 10 p.m. to midnight
After the ride, meet us back at Discovery Green for more music, beer from Saint Arnold, snacks, prizes and other surprises.

When and where can I pick up my packet?
Details and pick-up locations will be announced closer to the event.
Why did the time change to 9 p.m.?
The original midnight departure time made it difficult for many, such as those with young children or morning obligations, from joining. To make the event more accessible to all, the departure time was bumped up three hours to 9 p.m. but still retains its moonlight appeal.
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
All ages are welcome, and children 12 and under are free! Bike seats and trailers are welcome for the kids. This is a fun ride, not a race! IDs are required at the beer tents.
What other requirements are there to ride?
All riders must wear a helmet and have front and rear lights or reflectors on their bikes.
Do I have to bring my rider bib to the event?
Yes, you must have your bib on your person to participate in the ride and the post-ride party.
What is included in my registration?
A great fun bike ride plus: access to the festival after the ride, with beverages, music, and prizes; swag bag with special offers from our partners; Moonlight Ramble T-shirt; snacks at rest stops on the route. In addition, non-member registrations include a membership to BikeHouston and will help support better, safer biking in Houston, as well as provide access to discounts at select Houston businesses. T-shirts in your size are only guaranteed for riders who register by Sept. 30.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Parking for the event is in the George R. Brown lot.
What is the route?
The ride will take place entirely on Houston city streets and will highlight unique Houston neighborhoods. A finalized route map will be published closer to the ride date.
Am I allowed to bring my dog?
Well-behaved dogs are welcome to ride in trailers or baskets. We do not allow dogs to run beside bikes, both for the safety of the dogs and of the other riders.
What is your refund poicy?
This is a charity event. BikeHouston is not able to process refunds for any reason. Proceeds benefit BikeHouston – Houston’s nonprofit working to make a city that is safe and comfortable for all people on bikes.
